Satyam....An Indian Enron?

Nobody needs any info on the whole fiasco anymore...Over the past few days most of us have been either glued to the television or have been vigourously readin' a whole lot of stuff on how Satyam, one of the top companies in the IT sector managed to hoodwink not just the shareholders n stakeholders but have shocked an entire world by admitting to one of the biggest frauds in recent times!

Satyam...A company which boasts of some of the best Clients in the world of IT...a company which was responsible for settin' up the first 64kbps line for the common man in India...a company which has been one of the faces of the new emerging India that has given serious competition to the so called 'Developed Countries'...A company which proudly constituted the big-5 of the Indian IT sector...well, the list goes on...

Well,who would have thought that the fall would be so drastic that it is bein' talked about as 'Indian ENRON'...!!!! Does it really deserve this??? No Mr.Raju, we always loved Satyam!!!!

The CEO has been arrested,Enquiry Committees have been set up to carry out a probe,questions have been raised on the auditors role, It has been banned from NIFTY n BSE,other companies have come out strongly stating that Satyam is an isolated case and this event doesn't reflect the image of an Indian IT Industry...But well...Is the world actually listenin'????

Only time will tell......

Page outta my Diary...

The below post is a post I wrote more than a year back when I was still getting into the grove of a ‘Working’ life…I waz still naïve n juz refused to come outta that student’s zone…a zone which were some of the best days of my life! Its been a long time since then…n I realize, work hasn’t changed much, except it has changed ‘ME’ ofcourse! :-)
Here’s a recap to those days…

"Today mornin’….when I got up at around 6.15 AM…d first thought that came to my mind was…’Oh no..its juz another day…n man…i dont wanna go n see my comp again!’…So what did I do???? I actually GOT UP…!!!! After the morning routine of B3…ie brush-bath-breakfast…I came back to my room, sat on my bed n for a minute was ponderin’ ‘whats d best reason I can give my boss for not turning up for work’?

Yes, I decided…ill tell him d most common reason d whole world uses…’Im down with fever’ n so will not come to work…yes, I decided that n went back to bed…It was not like I was sleepy or somethin’…it was juz like..’I didnt wanna go to work n live d life what Ive been living like for quite sometime now…n so der I lay wondering what i was gonna do d whole day…I pondered n pondered for around till 9.30AM…

Incidentally one of my fren called n I started complainin as to how bored I was to go to office n blah blah blah….He told me…’Dont go…go to some movie…chill out…enjoy’…Yep, I thought that was a good idea…I smiled…n then whoooosssshhhhhh I got ready to go….Go where???? To OFFICE ofcourse!….Ol’ Habits Die Hard U See ;-)…

I picked my lunch, got out n got into d bus(luckily I got d buses soon!)…And mind u…I was really a sweet girl today giving up my seat for a very rude lady very patiently…I normally dont do it u see considering the fact dat I travel long distance…I got down at d designated stop…n der I was following d same ol’ routine on d city’s roads…wading through d streets…cursing auto fellows coz dey charged ugly fare… even for a min distance….wondering all d time…’where in d world has all the goodness vanished!!!’…After all d gruelling work goin’ on in my brains…I landed up at office around 10.45AM! Finally!

I went straight to the pantry…had a cuppa coffee…then went to my desk n switched my comp on(Yes, d very comp I didnt wanna see from mornin’…)…..The first thing I opened was my mail…no new mails..or rather…nothin’ interestin’…juz some daily routine mails from d corporate desk talkin’ bout all d various things happenin’ across d organisation(Well does anybody really care???)…then I logged into….yes, u guessed it rite…’Orkut’(used to be a life saver initially but now…its lost charm…yes it has… or rather I find it too non-neuron stimulating!!!)…

There they were…same ol’‘Good morning’,'Howz life?’,'Howz work’? kinda messages… Phew! Why cant it get better?:-(...nonetheless…followin’ d rat race…I sent across some of those kinda messages too …ironic isnt it? Well dats how u can become if u are caught up in a life doin’ d same things…followin’ d same mob….or rather becomin’ too predictable!!!

Now we were supposed to have a training session on our project…training got cancelled coz somebody else got busy!!!….Started readin’ some stuff on d comp on my project…got bored after sometime coz its all d same…Business Req…Design Specs…System Req…Coding…Testing…Yawn!!!

Well now its almost 4PM…n Im done with Gmail,Yahoo,Indiatimes, Orkut, GTalk n god forbid read almost all d war kinda news(Is anyone complaining!!! :-)) ….n etc etc….in another couple of hours d day is gonna end…n Im gonna hop onto d bus n traverse through the traffic-clogged city all over again…complain bout how things are never gonna improve…fret n fume over the over-crowded streets n still being a part of it all…!!!!

Well…..like Airlea says: “We’ve so much become a part of d rat race dat we’ve forgotten to stop…turn around…have a look at d simple things in life which brings on a smile onto our otherwise somber faces….n really learn ‘How to live’!!!…..U differ???….well…Airlea welcomes any change of opinion!!!”

Wroooommm…comin’ back to the present, Nothin’ much has changed since then for most of us(Again, am talkin’ ‘bout the majority, the exceptions can stay!)…We may have changed our jobs, we may have upgraded our skill sets, some of us may have been tryin’ to make a difference, some of us have been tryin’ to come outta that vicious cycle, some of us keepin’ ourselves immune to things happenin’ around us…
For all the above… ‘We may be makin’ a difference within our surroundings,
BUT
‘Are we making a difference, a DIFFERENCE that MATTERS’???
Matters, not just for ourselves, but towards a better environment???
Honestly I don’t have an answer!!!!!
